Butterfly Block – Sew Hometown

Sew Hometown - Butterfly Block

It’s hard to believe that August is already here and it’s time for us to start stitching up our next block, the butterfly. This block features improv sewing and is perfect for scraps of all different sizes.

Butterfly Block

To make the wings of the butterfly block, start by pulling out your colorful scraps. This quilt block allows you to use pieces of all sizes. Tiny and large scraps mixed together will add visual interest and movement to the finished look of your Butterfly quilt block.

Don’t let the improv piecing scare you off. Once you start stitching your scraps together the wings of the butterfly will take shape. This block is fun to make and completely unique.

Since you are using scraps, no two blocks will be the same. You will need to make 6 Butterfly blocks to complete your Sew Hometown quilt top.

The Sew Hometown pattern provides many opportunities to make your blocks unique and we would love to see! Be sure to tag us on social media with @inspiringstitches and #inspiringstitches or #sewhometown
